Career Overview
Prof. Zhuang has been wording on regional air pollution and climate change for a long time. He has undertaken 5 research projects (including the National Key R and D Plan of China) and won 2 provincial and ministerial Awards. He has published more than 70 SCI papers, which has been cited more than 1800 times by Web of Science. The key findings of the work are as follows: 1. the direct radiative forcing of the urban aerosol in China has been quantified, which could reduce the uncertainties of the forcing in Climate Change Assessment. 2. An online coupled regional climate and chemistry modeling system with independent intellectual property rights has been developed and it has played a very important role in understanding the aerosol effects on regional climate and feedbacks. 3. It has revealed the different physical mechanisms and corresponding contributions of black carbon aerosols in affecting climate change in East Asia, which may help in-deeper understanding the role of black carbon aerosols in global warming. 4. The uncertainty of the mixing state in estimating aerosol effect has been quantified, which implies that the mixing state is the basic premise for accurately evaluating the impact of aerosol on climate. 5. It has revealed the key mechanisms of the interactions between aerosols and East Asian monsoon, which provides an important scientific support for understanding the variations of East Asian monsoon and regional air pollution. It's believed that the results of the study will be in favor of in-depth understanding the interaction mechanism of air pollution and climate change.
