Xin Huang is a professor in air pollution and its interaction with meteorology, with particular emphasis on understanding haze pollution and its environmental and climate effects in highly polluted regions like China. She started her research by developing high-resolution emission inventories and improving atmospheric chemistry modelling in East Asia, demonstrating the critical importance of ammonia emission and heterogeneous reactions in China’s haze pollution. In recent years, her research aims to improve the understanding of aerosol-boundary layer interactions and their vital role in haze accumulation by using coupled meteorology-chemistry models and expands this finding to climatology analysis on regional and global scales. Xin Huang has contributed over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals with more than 9,000 citations, 10 of which are listed as ESI highly-cited papers. In addition to her innovative scientific contributions, Xin Huang has developed a strong reputation in the international atmospheric sciences community and serves as an associate editor of the Meteorological Applications, Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres and Science Bulletin.
